The farthest distance is Africa
Neither China nor India,
What planets,
Nor the stars that shine at night…
The farthest distance; is the distance between two heads
Those who do not understand each other...

Empathy is the ability to put yourself in someone else's place in feelings and thoughts and to understand them. Communication is the process of two people understanding each other by sharing their feelings, thoughts, knowledge and skills. Based on these definitions, empathy is very important in establishing correct communication. As ERA Colleges, we aim to raise awareness and reinforce this feeling through various events throughout April.
One of the many problems of our age is miscommunication, that is, lack of communication. Not listening to the other person and judging without listening are the biggest mistakes made by today's people. Empathy is essential for successful communication. For this reason, we can say that empathy occurs in 3 stages:
* First Stage: Trying to perceive the events as the other person
* Second Stage: Understanding the other person's feelings and thoughts correctly
* Third Stage: Expressing to the other person that we understand them with our words, tone of voice and body language. Research shows that verbal communication is 7% effective and communication made with voice and body language is 93% effective.
In fact, every individual has the ability to empathize, but it is important how much the individual uses this ability. If we want to understand a person, we must look at the world from his perspective and try to perceive and experience events as he does. By empathizing in this way, we move away from egocentrism and become a sensitive person. We communicate better with the other person and achieve success in social relationships.
As Lev Tolstoy said, "If a person can feel pain, he is alive. If he can feel the pain of others, he is human." Let's all be what we want to see in the world. For this reason, let's think of ourselves as if we were in the other person's place and understand him correctly, without judging him. Let's treat others the way we want to be treated, but let's be the first to act kindly.
