We all act in accordance with the responsibilities of our social roles in our relationships with people throughout our lives. We become students; we take responsibility for lessons, homework, school; We start work, take responsibility for the tasks required by our workplace; We become parents, we take responsibility for our children... The examples go on and on. As ERA Colleges, we aim to raise awareness and reinforce this awareness through various events throughout January.
Responsibility awareness is the individual's awareness of his responsibilities and gaining the ability to act accordingly. This skill should be built on solid foundations, especially in the family and during childhood. The foundations laid by parents being role models for their children will guide the child in his later years and will also create a sense of responsibility. Of course, the family should give the child the opportunity to instill this in his/her child and patiently observe the concept of responsibility being formed in the child step by step. Each child should grasp this awareness in the family according to his age and developmental characteristics, first fulfill his responsibilities within the family, then take responsibility in accordance with his duties in society and act accordingly.
Responsibility awareness includes not only the responsibilities of the individual towards himself but also the responsibilities towards society. Based on this, we can discuss responsibility awareness under two headings:
1. Awareness of Personal Responsibility: People should first know what their responsibilities are towards themselves. Person; He/she should be aware of the daily cleanliness and care of his/her body, the order and order in the house, and his/her duties towards family members. This awareness gained will spread from a narrow area to a wide area over time, and the individual will understand that his responsibilities are not only personal, but also that he has various responsibilities towards society.
2. Social Responsibility Awareness: As a social being, humans should know that the world they live in does not belong only to them, and that everyone around them is a separate individual in this world. Thanks to this awareness, it will be inevitable for people to understand that they have responsibilities towards society. Thus, the person will respect and protect nature and the environment and be sensitive to social problems in society.
Responsibility is one of the most important elements in shaping people's behavior. Individuals who act responsibly also take into account the effects their behavior may have on society or the environment. Individuals who shape their lives with this understanding are not only against society or the environment; At the same time, he will be careful and sensitive in his behavior towards himself, his family, his friends and the people he is responsible for.
"Awareness of responsibility is the basis of the understanding of 'we', and the person who sees himself as a member of 'we' knows what to do. When a person realizes that he is a responsible member of the team, he begins to produce solutions instead of problems in life. A person who has not discovered his team, that is, 'we', continues to live as a part of the problem." says dear Doğan CÜCELOĞLU
Let's all be part of the group that creates solutions rather than being part of the problem. Let's become aware of the responsibility of being "we", not "me".
